There are three main types of denture: conventional full, immediate full and partial.

Conventional full dentures are used after all the remaining teeth have been removed and the tissues have had time to heal completely. This healing process may take up to several months, during which you will be without teeth, but this gives your mouth time to heal properly before your denture fitting, allowing for perfect and comfortable dentures.

Immediate full dentures are similar to conventional dentures, but instead of waiting the several months for your mouth to heal after the teeth extraction, these dentures are placed immediately within your mouth. These dentures, though helpful during the months immediately following your teeth extraction, will need to be refitted and aligned to correctly and comfortably fit your mouth after the several-month healing process is complete.

Partial dentures are used when a patient still has many of their original teeth, but are looking to restore their smile with prosthetic replacements of missing sections. These dentures act in much of the same way as a dental bridge would, except this option is removable while a bridge is a more permanent fixed solution.
